Process Advisory

Cost Reduction

When margins are tight and costs need to come down, we work through your product design, supply chain and operational processes to find where spending can be reduced without compromising quality or reliability. We start with a clear target and work with your team until the savings are real.

Our Approach

We start with a target, not a method

Cost reduction without a target produces scattered findings that rarely add up to anything meaningful. We begin by agreeing a specific cost reduction goal with your leadership team, then conduct an initial analysis to identify where that saving can realistically come from across your product design, supply chain and operational processes.

Once the opportunities are identified and prioritised, we work alongside your team to capture the savings. We do not hand over a report and leave you to implement it alone.

Where we look for cost reduction
Product design Material specifications, design complexity, over-engineering and substitution opportunities
Supply chain Supplier consolidation, procurement processes, inventory levels and logistics costs
Operational processes Labour content, process waste, rework rates and overhead structures
Organisational structure Spans of control, role duplication and administrative overhead
Energy and utilities Consumption patterns, waste and efficiency opportunities in production
The Engagement

How we work with your team

A structured engagement with a clear target, an honest initial analysis, and hands-on support through to realised savings.

1

Set the Target

We begin by understanding your cost reduction goal, the timeline you are working to, and any constraints that limit the options available. A realistic target agreed upfront prevents the analysis from producing recommendations that cannot be implemented.

2

Cost Structure Analysis

We analyse the cost structures across the scope of the engagement: product cost breakdowns, supply chain spend, operational cost by activity, and overhead allocation. This tells us where the cost actually sits before we look for ways to reduce it.

Opportunity Identification

We identify every cost reduction opportunity within scope and quantify the saving potential for each, along with the effort and risk involved in capturing it. You see the full picture before any action is taken.

4

Business Case and Commitment

We build a business case for the priority opportunities and present it to your leadership team. We agree which opportunities to pursue and in what sequence before any implementation work begins.

5

Implementation and Realisation

We work alongside your team to implement the agreed changes and capture the savings. This includes any process redesign, supplier negotiation support, or productivity improvement work required to realise each opportunity.

Verification

At the close of the engagement we verify that the targeted savings have been realised by measuring actual costs against the pre-engagement baseline. Savings that cannot be measured are not savings.

What we will and will not do

What we will do
Give you an honest assessment of where your costs can realistically be reduced
Quantify each opportunity before recommending it
Work alongside your team through implementation, not just analysis
Verify that savings have actually been achieved against a measured baseline
Tell you when an opportunity is not worth pursuing given the effort and risk involved
What we will not do
Recommend cost reductions that will damage product quality or customer relationships
Pursue savings that create unacceptable safety or compliance risk
Recommend technology purchases as a cost reduction mechanism
Hand over a report of opportunities and leave implementation to you
Claim savings that have not been independently verified against a baseline

Productivity reviews

For businesses that know their labour productivity is below where it should be but are not ready for a full reengineering engagement, we offer a focused productivity review as a standalone service.

A productivity review analyses how labour is being used across a defined area of your operation, identifies where time is being lost to waste, waiting, rework and unproductive activity, and produces a set of targeted recommendations to recover that capacity.

What a productivity review covers

Labour utilisation analysis by role and activity
Identification of waste categories by volume and cost
Rework and defect cost quantification
Prioritised recommendations with effort and saving estimates
